If you like chowder, please join the Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation for their annual Chowder Cookoff during the Day at the Docks. Bring an appetite and get ready to sample a variety of chowders and to help crown this year’s “Best Chowder on Hatteras Island”.
This highly anticipated contest pits area restaurants, caterers, and aspiring home cooks against each other and allows visitors to taste a variety of fresh samples that range from your traditional clam chowders to Cajun-inspired chowders to thick, comforting seafood chowders that all celebrate the incredible flavors of Hatteras.
Upon entering the tent, you are given a ticket which allows you to sample all the chowders and cast a vote for your favorite. The chowder with the most votes is crowned “Best Chowder on Hatteras Island” and earns bragging rights for the year! The reigning champ is Village Red & White of Hatteras.
This favorite event is a great way to combine charity and great taste and we hope you will join us!!!
